Join us at Fruitlands Museum as we celebrate the Book Launch for Pastoral Present, a publication that captures the museum's current display of permanent collection Hudson River School paintings, alongside new works by visual artist Wilhelm Neusser. The book includes essays by Art Historian Erin Corrales-Diaz and Fruitlands Museum Curator Shana Dumont Garr.
Pastoral Present is a contemporary intervention of Fruitlands Museum's exhibition, A New View: Landscapes from the Permanent Collection. Wilhelm Neusser's contribution is part of a new body of work that he created over the course of 2019 in response to specific paintings in the Museum's collection. The resulting visual dialogues demonstrate the continued relevance of landscape painting, and Neusser's nuanced brushstrokes create spaces that are outside of time, signifying inner realms as much as actual places.
