Groton Neighbors is an all-volunteer, non-profit network of Groton residents dedicated to helping older adults remain in their homes as they age while staying connected to the people and places that matter.
While our focus is supporting older adults aging in place, membership is open to any Groton adult who wants to be part of a neighbor-to-neighbor community of mutual support.
Members can provide or receive services, or both, depending on their ability and needs at any given time. Groton Neighbors is built on a simple idea: neighbors helping neighbors.
Why Join Groton Neighbors?
Groton Neighbors provides the community connection and practical support that make it possible to remain independent at home.
Enjoy Social and Educational Programs
We host fun and engaging events that bring members together – often in collaboration with community partners. Great care and effort goes into planning more than a dozen gatherings each year, such as the Spring Member Party and the Gibbet Hill Farm tour.
Get Help from People You Trust
Members may request or volunteer services such as:
- Individual rides to local destinations or Boston area appointments
- Help with groceries, prescription pick-ups, and other errands
- In-home tech assistance with computers, televisions, and mobile devices
- Occasional light household help, yard clean-up, and short-term recovery visits
- Wellness visits to socialize, read aloud, or to give caretakers a reprieve
A Rewarding Volunteer Opportunity
Groton Neighbors offers an opportunity to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of neighbors. We rely on volunteers to provide services to their fellow members and to manage the organization.
We offer opportunities to volunteer in running Groton Neighbors, including new member recruitment, staffing the virtual office, technical support, and marketing and communications. Groton Neighbors is a great way to give back to the community.
How It Works:
When a member requests assistance, they contact our virtual office by phone or submit an online form. A trained volunteer connects the request with another member who is able to help.
Groton Neighbors operates through an all-volunteer model with no paid staff. We are a registered 501(c)(3), non-partisan, secular organization.
What Does Membership Cost?
• $50 per year for the first individual in a household
• $25 per year for each additional household member
The annual membership fee supports basic operating expenses. Cost is never a barrier to membership, and fees are waived upon request. No one is turned away due to inability to pay.

- For member safety, we require all prospective members to pass a background check and all driver volunteers to have a safe driving record and auto insurance.
