About this event

For our July book discussion, we will read My Antonia by Willa Cather. From our facilitator, David Smith: My Ántonia is an American classic. It is the third novel in Willa Cather’s Prairie Trilogy, her tribute to the pioneers who settled the vast central plains. Those of us who have already read it, probably did so in school. We’ll read it differently now that we’ve gained considerable life experience. Be sure to read the Introduction, which sets up the context for the story. Also, note the footnote at the start of Book One, which gives the proper pronunciation of the girl’s name.
